I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

XBOne... fixed.To everyone who says picking on Microsoft for their consumer unfriendly bullshit was "being unnecessarily mean," take a look at this. Don Mattrick just announced that Microsoft is back peddling with the XBOne, removing the disastrously awful features we've been bashing them for trying to inflict on us.
    Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Happy New Year!

While the hip young people are partying it up downtown, I'm in a hotel room, watching Tosh.0 with my little brother, and playing the DS Fire Emblem game with Marth in it.

But I was in Disney World for a week, so I think I'm relatively cool, right? |D *wiggles around* I also got me a Harry  Potter scarf from Universal Studios~! Yay Gryffindor becauseIlikedthatcolorcombinationbest~

LOL, okay. Before I start rambling, I'll just stop. x'D I'm really tired, guys. But I thought I should post something to commemorate the end of the year.

I babysat. She was adorable.

Then I went to a friend's house and watched part of Velvet Goldmine with my sister. And we watched the last 10 minutes of the countdown. And then I drank sparkling cider. Because I'm not 21. Damn.

You know me, I'm a regular socialite. Always the partier, that's me. It makes me so mad... I can drive, I can smoke, I can enlist in the army, but I CAN'T DRINK! EVEN THE CANADIANS AREN'T THIS CONSERVATIVE! (Side note: the canadians are actually pretty liberal, once you get past all the snow. Or perhaps it's because of all the snow...)
But yeah, Happy New Year. The coolest thing was that there was a thunderstorm. It was "3, 2, 1, Happy New Year! Aud lang sein, BOOM! FLASH!" There's a powerful metaphor in there, and I'm think I kinda like it.

Somehow, I don't think the whole boot-camp-war-killing-things is worth a little legal alcohol. I'll just nip up to Canada when I want to drink. It's not all that far from school, really.

I feel ya... You don't want the city to burn down, but a meteor shower or something would be nice.
