If anyone is awake at this ungodly hour like me, I'd like to share something creepy. I've just been reading this for the past hour or so. x'DD

MANGAFOX LINK: [link]

The Japanese come up with some of the most surreal urban legends I've ever seen.

I think the whole "don't acknowledge their existence" is the best policy toward ghosts and such... orz

...Crap, I gotta get up early for a dentist appointment tomorrow...

Let's suppose that in in the future, I upload a good deal of comic/manga pages.

Do you guys prefer individual pages at a time (as I've been doing with Holle Kings)? Or should I just put them into one zip file per chapter/story that you can download?

This won't be just for Holle Kings. I'll probably have some short stories or mini-series going on in the future. x'D

Please tell me your opinion. :'D

Thanks, guys!

The japanese are frigteningly good at scare-stories. I think it's a product of the historically intensely formal society and mythologies. Shinto is a very complex, creative religion. But more so, the Japanese seem unusually adept at manipulating ones own mind to create fear. Thus, all of our "good" horror is an American remake of a Japanese film.

I am very glad I don't see ghosts/spirits. I think I'd go mad.

Interesting~! And even without knowing all the historical/cultural aspects, I think what freaks out foreigners is also how they make use of subtle proportional changes on human figures to create unease. (The ghost faces in that manga just... guh!) There's also the fear of someone invading on your privacy without your knowledge, and you have no way of making them stop, no matter what you do. @_@

I'm with you, Mari! A sixth sense is the last superpower I'd want--and even then, I wouldn't take it. x'D

That's why the "If I Were Invisible" song by Clay Aiken is soooo creepy. Anything that we are powerless against is terrifying. This is mainly because we've made ourselves the top of every food chain. It really makes you wonder, do only predators fear things like epidemics and ghosts? I'd be willing to bet that rabbits and mice don't give a hoot. They're already aware that something's going to kill them before the natural conclusion of their lifespan, so why worry what has the honor of doing it? (this is, of course, assuming that animals have some form of conciousness and awareness of self. Which I believe they do, but maybe that's the many anthropomorphized animal based children's movies talking.) Imagination has a lot to do with it also. If animals can imagine, then they can fear foolish things as well.

Oh! The alien feeling of helplessness created when we suddenly feel like we're not at the top of the food chainnnn~! XD I was actually trying to explain this to my brother when he read it, but he was like, "This isn't scary 'cause it's not happening to me." (GUH, I swear that kid can't imagine himself as a character other than a shooter in his video games.)

You bring up an interesting point of how different species have different needs depending on where they are on the food chain. Have you heard of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? It's the idea that certain requirements need to be fulfilled before the organism can focus on "higher goals," with "self-actualization" at the top. 8D I believe it affects most animals, but the upper echelons mostly apply to the human species simply because of where we are in the food chain. It's quite nifty; check it out! [link]

Yeah, that's why there are so many people with a fear of Vampires, Zombies, Ghosts, Aliens, etc. Really, what people fear most about all of these is not the entity itself, but the inability to do anything. I think the most common and deep seated fear in humans is helplessness.
And it's easy to imagine yourself in a first person shooter; it's first person!! That's actually why I don't like them (that, and because I cannot aim to save my life, and consequently, die frequently). Some boys have no imagination...

I hadn't heard of Maslow's Hierarchy, but I've encountered simmilar ideas. The whole idea of how civilization was formed, or rather, why it wasn't formed sooner, is based on the idea that up until homeo sapiens (but probably a couple of evolutionary degrees down and throw in the neanderthals) there was simply no time to do anything more than the basic hunt, eat, reproduce. Once organisms begin to think in different ways and develope tools, or ways in which to save time they are able to spend time doing more than just surviving. Thus, creativity breeds civilizaton. Imaginative people are the reason why we aren't living in caves without clothing (well, that and natural selection). So, there's a reason to be an artist.

I definitely think the stories that inspire paranoia are more frightening than anything I've seen in movie theaters these days. The imagination comes up with far worse stuff. xD The fact that each story is so short and vague really works with the paranoia they create; you never get that cathartic moment, a resolution to all that suspense!

ehh some yea i get it when it's something like the monster that stalks you or something however i like the a finish end but yea the lack of the cathartic release for the resolution
sometimes is done out of lazyness
